Bought for the wife who is constantly adding Bluebells and Snowdrops to our woodland garden and spends most of the time digging the bulbs in with a trowel on her knees. The length of this auger enables her to stand and drill multiple holes in a group very quickly and then simply drop the bulbs in and back-fill. It makes the job so much easier, quicker and more consistent. The only observation is that you need to ‘hold’ the drill-bit back to prevent it from simply drilling in too deeply without removing the soil. If you lift the drill up and down as you go this will ensure the hole is cleared of soil and not suddenly swallow the auger bit. It would also have been helpful if the blades had extended longer up the shaft to enable deeper holes for stakes but this is its secondary use as the increased ease for bulb planting is its forte. Well made with solid shaft unlike some other hollow versions and the diameter of the hole is perfect for dropping a bulb in and allowing your pinched fingers to press in the soil behind it. Not had it long enough to have encountered any issues apart from hitting the odd tree root and having to back out and move the spot over. Used with a an old corded drill and long extension lead as this drill has a side handle for steady control and a speed limiter on it so it could be set not to run away and bury itself more quickly. Good tool and well worth having in the shed. I’m no gardener but the wife would spend all day on the garden if she could and she really likes using it and has planted many bulbs since getting it.

Really useful, time and effort saving devices. Will not drill through rock hard soil but otherwise an excellent product. Piece of advice. Make sure your thumb is in a safe positron when holding your electric drill, as the augers will stop abruptly if they snag against a large stone and this will cause your electric drill to spin violently in your hand. Use safely.

Pros;*Cheap*LongThe aim is to use it plunger style. In a bit, out, in a bit out and repeat.If you go in too far it can rip the drill right out of you hand and damage you in the process. Slow and steady is the way to go. I use a post hole digger for wider deeper holes, and a digging bar, which I prefer. But if you only need small hole for planting this is okay.Cons:*Cheap*Metal??. Not steel.Feels flimsy. It does work, but you have to be careful as it bends. I have purchased other which are much sturdier and feel more like the solid steel I was expecting with this one.*Took a while to come. I was about to complain when it arrived.Would I buy another one from this seller, probabaly not.

Easily made neat 2ft holes to take some posts. It worked well in our soil which is quite stoney when you get down about 9in.I like that it has a solid shaftIt works well with a cordless drill ( max torque) which has better control than my electric drill. It didnt fit my impact driver and the SDS drill would be too powerful. Go slow, if it seizes just reverse the drill and try again woth less pressure but go slow of the drill is going too fast when it seizes on a stone or root you could eaisily break a finger or hurt your wrist.The only negative is that I would have prefered the screw/blade to come further up the shaft which would make it easier get the spoil out of the hole if you are making a deep hole.
