Very refreshing! and with Bells and Whistles!
It's all about the refresh rate! I was really pleased to get this monitor but when looking at the resolution I was initially thinking (my Samsung tablet has 2560 x 1600*) but that is on a 10 inch screen. Anyway I looked into it and it seems that 240 Hz is a very high refresh rate and 1920 x 1080 is the 'standard' resolution - it seems to be a 'trade off' between resolution and refresh rate - unless you want to pay serious money? As an example another HP monitor with Quad HD resolution* has only a 60 Hz refresh rate (standard) but it costs more than 3 times the price. Bottom line is that I was blown away by the improvement over my standard monitor - I use my PC for Graphics, Animation and Video Editing and all seem enhanced by this monitor; colours are brighter, contrasts more defined and text easier to read and of course the matt finish/Anti-Glare coating makes a big difference - also the screen being 'edge to edge' means that there's no 'frame' around the display as well. It comes with a few cables and ports I've never even seen before (luckily my motherboard is up to date enough to have those connections/ports) which further enhance the communication between monitor and PC. What I was also surprised and impressed by are the USB A ports 2 x 3.0 and 1 x Type B (the latter must be connected to the PC for the A ports to work) What I also found amazing was, that you can plug in, say, an external hard drive (or two) directly into the monitor and thanks to the B cable communication your PC can access them (saving port space on the PC)The metal stand is very heavy and has a sliding an tilting mechanism which is very smooth, although the upright element of the stand adds, at least another 10 cm to the over all depth ( or, of course it can be wall mounted)One niggle I have is that there is only a quick set up guide included in the box (mainly graphical) so, given my unfamiliarity with the cables, I had to hunt out the full user guide online; which helped a lot - I'd also strongly suggest reading some of the other reviews here on Amazon because they helped me a lot when setting up the monitor. The other niggle was that the power cable ends in a Euro style mains plug - but no UK adaptor is supplied? I have loads of adaptors but not this particular type (EU to UK) so had to buy one specifically. But the bottom line is this monitor is great!

Rubbish G-Sync panel
The panel isn't very well made for G-Sync. It's native G-Sync with a vrr range of 0 to 240 yet you get brightness flickering at lower framerates. You can see the brightness flicker when their is high latency even at 80 to 144fps and it gets very bad under 30fps. It's very disheartening, especially for the price. HP support is non existent. The picture itself is amazing for a TN panel, there is no backlight bleed and the uniformity is perfect but the panel itself just isn't good enough for a G-Sync module unless you are playing games which don't have stalls or other forms of fluctuation with framerates (which defeats the purpose of G-Sync).I do not recommend this monitor.

HP OMEN Gaming Monitor Wonderful as a Second Screen in Home Office
The one big thing you must know is that mine did not come with a UK plug but a European one. Luckily we did have a cable we could utilise for having this working. Would have thought that for such an expensive monitor that it would come with a plug that you could at least use.Saying that the monitor is the best for not just gaming as colours are sharp and crisp. The response time so fast compared to other non gaming monitors we’ve had. It’s also being used as a second screen for husband whilst working at home. Means he can have his laptop open doing one thing and this monitor being used as a second screen making life so much easier for him similar to how he works in the office at work. We’ve actually mounted this on our office wall as light enough to do so easily and securely. The only thing with doing this though is that there is nowhere then to hang your headphones when not using them much to sons disappointment. It is a big screen though so consideration needs to be taken if using the desk for other stuff too it’s stable enough and feels like it’s one of those items that can be used by the whole family for doing household bills, office work and then gaming. It’s getting a lot of work going through it just now more then it did about five or so months ago. The main thing is the whole family agrees that this is making life easier for many different reasons. Husband as a second screen for his work and the ability to be able to see clearly with it since having eye op done no glare from it. Through to teenage son that uses it for gaming and ok doing some sixth form work on it.The big reason for four stars is the plug for the huge price tag I would expect to be able to use it right away and not have to find another cable to enable me to use it. My review isn’t a technical how many pixels etc kind of one but just one of how my family and I have found this to be so useful just now but think the price tag too much.
