Third time's the charm
First, you should know that the company, FCH, listed as the manufacturer on Amazon isn't actually the manufacturer. The brand name of the canopy is Vingli. It will come in a Vingli box that has probably been returned by a previous customer. That was true of the first canopy FCH sent me, which was missing the back aluminum bar. it was true of the second canopy FCH sent me as a replacement, which had the back aluminum bar, but the part had been damaged when an earlier customer, apparently, tried and failed to install it and returned it. Third Vingli box included all parts and none was damaged. So, assuming you get a full, undamaged canopy, here is how you assemble it1. Throw away the instructions that came with the canopy. They will only confuse you. Take the plastic corner protectors off the 2 clear plastic rectangular sheets, then peel off the protective film.2. Look for the clear plastic connector strip. It will have grooves on either side and is slightly shorter than the rectangular sheets. Slide the clear plastic rectangular sheets into this clear plastic connector strip. Set aside.3. Look next for the 2 long aluminum strips. Check to make sure that the ends are not bent and that the holes in each edge piece are open. The flatter aluminum strip will be installed at the back of the canopy (and will run parallel to your wall when installed). The aluminum strip with the rounded edge will be at the front of the finished canopy. Slide one aluminum strip onto either side of the connected rectangular plastic sheets that are now attached together, parallel to the plastic connector. The assembly will look like this: aluminum strip; plastic sheet, plastic connector, plastic sheet, aluminum strip. This assemblage will not be a snug fit, so you might want to use some painters tape to temporarily hold the pieces in place, but leave the bare edges of the plastic sheets clear of tape.4. Take one of the black plastic brackets and, laying it flat on the floor or other flat surface, slightly bend the connected plastic sheet assemblage just enough to fit into the groove at the inside edge of the bracket. Make sure that the rounded aluminum piece is at the front of the bracket and the flat aluminum piece is at the back with its completely flat side facing up.5. Once you have the assemblage in the groove, you'll need two of the self-drilling short screws, and a drill (or screw gun) with a Philips screwdriver bit. The screws will each create a hole in the aluminum pieces when you drill them into place. Find the innermost screw holes on the bottom of the bracket, near each end. You will see 2 holes in each location, but will be inserting the screws only into the INNERMOST hole, not the outer (which is there for you to insert a second canopy section, should you have purchased the double canopy version). Use your electric screw gun or electric drill to screw these into place. There is no hole in the aluminum pieces, so a regular handheld screwdriver won't work. It might be helpful to first drill a small (smaller than the screw size) pilot hole. Make certain that the pieces are in tight alignment before drilling.6. Next, you'll use the longer screws to secure the sides of the bracket to the sides of the aluminum pieces. There are two screw holes inside the groove of the sides of the brackets, front and back.7. Flip the assembly around, tap it lightly along the edge of the bracket, to make sure everything is still in alignment, and repeat the above process with the second bracket.8. Once all the screws are in, the canopy assembly is completed. Use a thin bead of clear silicone caulk in all the seams, to keep out moisture and reduce the chance of mold growing inside the seams.9. The canopy is now ready to attach to your wall. The bolts supplied are for concrete, brick, and similar walls. If your walls are made of wood, you'll need different screws and might need to do a little extra work to ensure you can attach the canopy to the studs. I first attached 1x4 boards to the studs, top and bottom, with structural screws. The boards were painted the color of the house. The canopy was attached to the boards top and bottom, with wood screws with washers under the heads (so that they will be secure in the bracket holes), with flashing between the board and canopy back. This is a serviceable, but not particularly attractive plastic canopy. It looks plastic. There's no way of pretending otherwise. It will probably last longer if you use the silicone caulk at the seams, as i suggest, but it's not going to last forever. Consider it a temporary solution at best, and if you get 3 years out of it, you've gotten your money's worth. With luck, using the above instructions, you'll also have gotten your labor's worth.

Throw away the instructions!
Ok, I bought this same canopy a few years back and had some problems with it then as far as install but I manage to get it together and it’s worked really well ever since! So I decided to buy two more! First of all , there was a change to the shield where it was one piece , now in two pieces! I understand , cheaper and easier to ship? However, still a little concerned with it over time? Will it start leaking or worse? I went ahead and took a chance , and luckily I had put one together before because whoever came up with those instructions should be #%\¥! Not only were they incoherent, but incomplete as well! Like the final steps of the install and which way the screws were meant to go??? So I just went with my instincts and after a few trial and errors, got her done! I have to say, the device itself looks and works great! I’ve had pretty high winds and the original one piece works like a top! Love the look and the practicality! So , I will say, it’s a great canopy for the money and unless your up close done know that it’s all plastic! I almost threw it back in box the first time I ordered but as time has gone along, I see why it works so well! I’d say give it shot! You might be surprised ? However, throw away the instructions or maybe look at the pics and count your pieces which they usually give you extras which is a nice touch ! But, use common sense on the rest! The screws to connect to house or wherever a more than a little involved? The first time I just connected to boards first then screwed the boards to the house! If you have brick home, might not work! Use the attachment screws,! Just note, the pic shows them in backwards! That’s all I got! Keep on a ridin! This is the rambling cowboy!

Decent for price point, worst instructions ever
The product is lightweight and looks nice, seems worth it for the cheap cost. However, the instructions are terrible... here are some tips to help out.1. When getting the panels into the separator in the middle, put one corner in and slide down.2. Before you screw everything into place (steps 6, 8, 9), make sure everything is square (90 degrees).3. The screws (9/16" or 14 mm head) to fix the awning to the wall are really confusing and only work for some applications. The length of awning + sheath (3/8" diameter) doesn't give enough room for the screw to hit the nut. But the bottom of the sheath is flanged and you can hammer the nut into the sheath so the bolt can reach. When doing this, the sheath flanges out and locks it into place, so it worked for me because I had access behind the board I was screwing into. I included a picture so you can see what it looks like. If you don't have access behind the hole, I would suggest just buying your own screws.Reviews by my 5-year-old daughter... "it's so shiny" and "wow daddy, you're strong" (It's light).

Great Product
I have a south facing door into my shop and no gutters which in CA is not a real problem however, with the rain this year it was a cold shower entering and exiting the shop so added this.Lightweight yet sturdy, it was simple to install. Built it on the ground then with the help of my son lifted and installed. The support from the vendor was amazing, they stand behind this product and so a great job.Would recommend to anyone looking for a cover.

Ordered an FCH received a Vingli
I like the look of the product. I ordered a FCH, the name on the packaging and the directions were for a Vingli? It was easy to put together, when installing, needed different screws. The screw provided were for cement or masonry, I mounted it on my door frame

Check dimensions for door clearances under cover.
Plus: It was looking good. The plastic ornamental sides are substantial, the three middle braces were ok, the plastic opaque canopy material would probably last several years, but not 10-15 years.Minus: No dimensions provided in advertisements or assembly instructions. Instructions are ok, but not great. Unfortunately, the expansion anchors did not have width of drill hole for insertion. They appear to be 1/2”, but the 1/2” drill hole was too wide. A 7/16” hole worked ok. But, one side of my door frame only had a face board and the anchors would not work on one side of the door. Then the top of the screen door hit the under side of the canopy panel when half way open so took the cover down and gave it to my neighbor. Need dimensions of cover if you have an outward opening door to avoid this problem before you buy and install the canopy.

Overdoor rain coverage
It added a nice touch over the door to shelter from the rain, but the wind took it - quality not as strong as I hoped and needed two people to install
