Q: Can it be used on a dead battery and how long will it take to charge it?

Used this to charge a completely flat car battery (not dead, but fully discharged by faulty light). Took over 12 hours to charge, but worked perfectly. Only issue was that wasn't certain it was working until display confirmed the battery had been charged sufficiently for the first bar to remain on as charged, which took quite a few hours).

Q: How long is the cable in total length?

Power cable (the one with the 3 pin plug) is 70 cm the positive/negative cable that attaches to the battery terminals is 60 cm long.

Q: Can this be used to charge a car battery without disconnecting the car battery?

Yes of course, no problem. Just connect across the battery terminals - before powering it shows the state of the battery, then power up the charger and it shows voltage, charging current and temperature. No need to disconnect battery from car.
