The product itself is great, however when I first installed it the pilot+ the thermocouple was touching the burner flames a little, which made it only last for 2 days until the pilot turned off, after checking videos I was able to fix this by cleaning the thermocouple a little, move the thermocouple a little farther from the burner fire and that did the trick. Burner is working fine for now, will update if anything changes. But so far I am satisfied.

In my case the pilot light needed a whole new fixture; i.e. both a new thermalcouple and gas-line with hood, designed and engineered to work together. Initially it seemed like more work to replace the fixture, but it made a big difference unless you are getting an exact thermal coupler replacement.Discussion: I went into this job filling-in for a lay HVAC and a real HVAC technician. The lay HVAC person, a friend of the renter, bought and installed a new thermal couple; to no avail. The renter then called in an HVAC technician who diagnosed a bad gas valve; replace for $800, and since the boiler is old, how about a new system while we are at it for $-ridiculous price. I'm the homeowners son-in-law, I was called in to help, simply as a DIY man. I tested the thermal couplers and both put out ~30 m-Volts, so I replaced the gas valve. This set up worked through the end of the season (2-months). The next season the pilot light was not staying lit. I readjusted the thermal coupler and the system worked for a month or two. Since over a full year had passed, I wondered about the gas valve going bad again, since the thermal couplers were giving pretty good 30 m-Volts reading on bench tests. I decided to buy the whole pilot light fixture as offered here, new hood and thermal-couple, designed and engineered for each other. Perhaps the old pilot-light gas line was plugged, though there seemed to be plenty of gas. The new system worked like a charm and I now suspect a new gas valve was never needed in the first place. That is, the new thermal coupler that the lay HVAC person bought was not an exact match for the fixture it was going into. I never saw the original hardware and alignment, so I was not aware they were so incompatible.

If you are looking for this type of pilot then this is what you want to get. It works perfectly and fits most setups. However, depending on the the setup you have, you may have to get fitting attachments but other than that, it works as expected.

It worked for a few days. After that it would constantly go out or not light. I kept having to take it back out and cleaning it in hopes that it would work again. Unfortunately it’s past my 30 days to return. I wouldn’t recommend.

By 2024, the thermocouple burned out. I replace the same unit. When first installed, it worked perfectly. The pilot light lit in 30 seconds and stayed lit for days. Then a week later, it went out. I found the problem: The solder joint where the pilot light gas tube enters brass nut failed. Solder melted at nut-tubing joint of pilot flame. I’m not sure why they would use solder, instead of a Swaglock fitting, on a brass joint that could overheat?In 2019, I wrote that I used the Fixit pilot light assembly in my gas log fireplace. It was 1/3 the price of the replacement part from the fireplace company. It hasn't failed me in six months.
