The White House Is Burning: August 24, 1814

Very good book though as it states it is very short. However just in those very short amount of pages is numerous amounts of information. Very informative for a quick read.

The book content is well written and is being used in our homeschooling. Unfortunately multiple books in this particular delivery of history and multicultural books were damaged. Oddly the science books in the same delivery were completely unscathed. We take pride in our care of books so this was disheartening that someone was so careless.

It begins with a knock in the night raising the alarm--the enemy are advancing! As events unfold, heroes, cowards, and villains are exposed. The White House is Burning has the immediacy of breaking news, an excellent book for children on the little-known War of 1812.
