No reusable cube is going to cool a drink as quickly as ice, this is because of physics. The act of the ice cube turning to water absorbs a lot of heat energy. But if the drink is already cold/cool, these will keep it that way for a good amount of time. If you let them sit for a while they will cool your drink, but nowhere near as fast as real ice.Set your expectations for what is possible with these and you won't be disappointed.The plastic container they come is the reason for 4 stars. They become extra brittle when put in the freezer and break easily at that point.I replaced the container they come in with something else, but have not yet found the perfect storage device for these.Despite the container issue, I am re-ordering 2 more sets. With the 2 sets I have that will give me a total of 16 cubes. This will be more than enough for my personal use on a daily basis and if I have a couple guests they should be enough.The cubes have a liquid in them (when thawed of coarse) that turns solid when freezing. They are strong and I have been using the 2 sets I have for over a year with no chips/breaks or scratches in them.They are extremely easy to clean/wash. I can hold them in my hand and rinse them or they can be put in the top rack of a dishwasher.I have not tested really how long they last because I use them with my scotch. I sip the scotch slowly and they last the whole time, but I usually put fresh ones in anytime I go for a refill to make sure they are nice and cold.I like the way these look and their size is good too. I use 4 per drink (2 fingers of scotch) with just a tiny splash of distilled water to bring out the flavor.I highly recommend these cubes but just know that you will most likely need to find something else to store them in once the container they come with breaks.

My wife bought me these for my birthday and I could not be happier. I drink milk with anything sweet and I must have my milk as cold as possible. Putting regular ice in milk makes it disgusting but this is the perfect solution I never even thought of. They were a great gift and work perfectly as intended.
