Q: I have a virtually identical unit that barely cools, no heat from cooling fans. Any suggestions?

First off you definitely have to check the voltage that you’re putting into it that unit takes 12 V at 6 DC, Next you’ll have to check to see if you have the wires connected correctly you can reverse them and make one side hot the other side cold and vice versa. Once you’ve established the proper voltage and that you have it connected the way that you need it you will definitely see one of the heat sinks starting to sweat and that is your cold heat sink.

I used to use something similar to this to super-cool my water cooled computer. Just bear in mind the two 92mm fans create a fair amount of heat. This limits peltier cooled applications. Peltier technology has been around for decades, but the practical applications is very limited.

If the area to be cooled is small enough let's say 6"x10"x8", then you can lower the temperature by setting the digital thermostat to the desired temperature.
