Great build!
As you can see in the pictures, I love different building block sets! This one, however, was seriously so much fun to put together! Very good quality, and love that it moves! I've tried several different brands of building blocks, and while nothing really beats the original as far as how well they snap together, this brand was definitely not far off from how the bricks feel when they snap together. They did such a great job with Pikachu and included lots of little details that truly made this a fun build! This was one of the first kits I've built that move, so there was definitely a slight learning curve to it. However, they have the main internal components, that snap together, color-coded. The pieces that snapped together being color-coded was an awesome extra touch, and made putting larger pieces together a breeze!

How is this not rated higher?!
The set is amazing! It was gifted to my daughter (9) from Santa and it is the coolest thing. Now this is a very advanced build. I'm not going to say my kid did the whole build. This was for sure a share build. Mostly by her dad. My husband said the hardest part is the belt. It is flimsy, because it has to be flexible. Took him 4 hours for the belt. The pieces are small so I recommend a designated area and zip lock bags. We have a curious cat so bagged everything up at night to ensure no missing pieces. And they do give you extras of small and crucial pieces. The instructions are nicely laid out in a heavy book with thick pages in segments, and it is picture instruction, no words. Easy for me, hard for others.Anyone that puts in reviews that it is not Lego quality, is biased. This is new, fun, and just a marvel at what can be made with just plastic. The end result gives us a lot of enjoyment. We show it off to everyone that comes over. Absolutely adorable. I think the price point is worth it. If it didn't move it is not, but the ground moves, Pikachu runs, and you and move the ears. Get the younger ones involved by making a background, or you make one. I would love to see this in at least the top 100 build sets so they make more of these. Mega Construct did an amazing job and should be proud of the product they created.

Great product!
I love these Pokémon figures. This is definitely a more complex build (especially for younger kids) since it involves motion controls, but the instructions are clear and easy for older kids and adults to follow. Everything arrived in perfect condition!

Very nice for display, alright as a mechanical model
I was pleasantly surprised with how nice this looks in person once it's completed. A lot of contours and 'fluff' detail are done really nicely and the overall proportions seem pretty great. Though the mechanical aspect of it seems like it could have used a little bit more refinement. There's a noticeable amount of resistance when the tail section is being raised up, and it seems like some of the sliding levers have a bit too much friction when sliding along structural walls. As tempting is it seems, I think I would advise against using motors with this because I've tried a few different ones and seems like I was either ending up with too much torque and it started grinding gears or I didn't have enough torque and it would slow down significantly at through phases of the rotation. It's very possible that results may vary due to tolerancing on how the bricks are produced, and it's possible that with a dry lubricant applied to some of the parts this could function a lot better.

Smash hit with the "Freakachu"
My little dude loves ONE thing, and it's Pikachu. I'm a big fan of the Mega Blok Pokemon sets - they really customize a lot of the pieces, while still managing to create interesting "natural" designs using simple pieces. The running effect is so much better than expected, and the ability to twist Pikachus ears to make him look like he's going fast or slow is a wonderful touch. I also loved the inclusion of both Romaji and Hiragana name plates. This would have been a challenging build for my causal-brick-fan 8 year old. Precocious brick kids would probably manage most of it, and the set includes some ingenious ways to make some of the trickier parts easier.I did most of the building, and we both had a lot of trouble making sure all the legs were connected right. Towards the end, the front peg got knocked out and I had to spend about twenty minutes jiggling and prodding to get everything back where it belonged without taking the whole thing apart.I loved building this set,and while I acknowledge it has some fragile sections I already anticipate having to repair, the worst one is actually going to be quite easy to access - they clearly thought ahead to the need to be able to repair the "treads" for the ground effect, and removing the front plate of the base is as simple as removing 2 flat pieces and a smart tug on the connectors. The only downside is it's making me regret missing out on older mechanical sets. That Magikarp will haunt my dreams.Definitely a great buy for brick&pokemon fans!
