Bing Crosby White Christmas All star show
I really enjoyed it. I grew up watching his Christmas specials.

This is NOT hosted by Bing Crosby ! !
"Bing Crosby's White Christmas All Star Show" is the most misleading DVD title I've ever seen.Yes, Bing does appear briefly to sing "White Christmas"... but he most definitely did NOT host the show, he did NOT introduce performer, and he did NOT organize the production. If you are looking for one of those wonderful Christmas specials that he did, you will be sadly disappointed.Second, this is NOT the entire production, as is evidenced by the fact that all participants introduced themselves at the very beginning, and there were several who did not appear until the final song (done with the entire cast), where people such as Shirley MacLaine were visible (she was in a dance costume, as was another woman who did not perform, so both must have danced).HOWEVER. There are some performances that "redeemed" the purchase for me. The superb pianist Van Cliburn, fresh from his history-making victory in the Moscow competition... Walter Pigeon and two others doing a great quick-tongued piece of humor... Danny Kaye singing a duet with Louie Armstrong... Jack Benny, George Burns, and Jimmy Stewart doing a song-and-dance routine (yes, Jimmy Stewart!)... Anna Maria Alberghetti, Lena Horne, Gale Storm were among the varied singers... Milton Berle and Bob Hope did monologues (I'd never enjoyed Milton's performances that I'd seen on TV, but this one was great)...If the title was "USO All Star Christmas Show" (which was what the show was), and if they had included all the performances, it would probably earn 5 stars.

Bing Crosby's White Christmas All Star Show
I am to young to remember this, but with that said I have always loved Bing Crosby. This DVD does not fail when it comes to the classic Christmas shows that USED to be on TV. It is a production by the USO for US troops overseas and is has 50 top names and of course the wonderful Bing Crosby singing White Christmas. If you want to see something a nostalgic this Christmas this is the one to get!!

Amazon Goofed
Considering the millions of items Amazon offers its customers, the company can be proud of its extraordinary efficiency and accuracy. However, the Amazon description is not for this DVD, which I purchased some time ago. This is a DVD of an old, non-enhanced kinescope of a show filmed by the USO to be distributed to the troops in the 1950s. As one reviewer commented, Bing sings White Christmas and introduces the show, but it's not a Christmas show. There are film clips of 50 or more stars doing one song or comedy bit each. It's interesting to see them, and some talented newcomers are also featured. Miyoshi Umeki, for instance, sings a beautiful ballad. I would like to get the retrospective Crosby special hosted by Kathryn Crosby and Gene Kelly, which is the DVD described by Amazon, even though, as one reviewer noted, the excerpts are short and too often marred by voice-over narration. Finally, some of these reviews are for "White Christmas," starring Crosby and Danny Kaye.

A classic collection
I thikn the adults enjoyed this one more than the kids did, but my eleven-year-old son did have a lot of fun seeing what I used to watch as a kid (and he has become a real Jack Benny as well as Danny Kaye fan). The adults adored seeing this amazing collection of footage of classic stars in various Christmas specials. It was quite incredible to watch.

It's not BING !
While there are some great performances that people, over sixty will enjoy, this is not a Bing Crosby show, He only performs White Christmas, which is one of only two Christmas songs on this video. This is a USO produced show, and nothing to do with Bing's Christmas shows.

What a (Christmas) turkey
Anyone buying this in the hope that it will give them a warm Christmassy glow (as I did)to set them up for the festive season will be sorely disappointed. The title itself is misleading as you only see Bing Crosby once. There is a great line up of stars, but it looks and feels like they each filmed their own piece, which were then edited (badly) together. The result is, quite frankly, a boring succession of "turns" with nothing linking them together. It is about as festive as the turkey frame the day after Boxing Day.

Wrong Synopsis Must Be changed not to mislead
I only whish I had read the LT's review before purchasing. The DVD is not as it is described. I was expecting to see Bing Crosby's Christmas special, which included David Bowie and him performing the little drummer boy as per the television special. This product that came is Bing Crosby's white Christmas ALL STAR SHOW, which was a production for troops overseas. I realize that this company is not the only one that has this error of the wrong advertisement. AMAZON must see to changing their write-up of this DVD. I was very disappointed. And did not bother to even open it up
