Celebrate ELP with this Amazing 3-CD Set
ELP has been a personal favorite of mine and saw them live at Madison Square Garden back in the late 70's. I still play this album and a few others I have in my library all the time. I remember the look (of amazement) on people's faces who I played their music for and they still thank me for turning them on to ELP.I bought this to celebrate ELP after the death of Greg Lake. Emerson had already taken his life. How sad.The first two CD's are the best of the best. The third CD is a bit weak with stuff from Love Beach that I did not care for as much. Still, this 3-CD set will give you hours of great musicianship. Carl Palmer shines in Tank and Toccata just to name a few. There is a live and studio version of Toccata.

Underated band
I'm a child of the 70's, and at that time this band wasn't cool. They didn't have long hair like the others that I followed, so I didn't pay much attention. But I missed a lot, and this collection came together to prove that. If you need further proof, take a look at youtube, and search for Neil Peart versus Carl Palmer. You will instantly see some amazing drumming and will have a hard time determining who was better. I personally choose Peart, but only because I have seen him in concert with Rush many times, and never saw ELP. I wish I had.

Impressive Packaging
Thought I was going to receive a used copy. Instead, it was new and was packaged better than I expected with a booklet. The music is stellar and if you are an ELP fan, this is worth having even if you have the tracks in your collection elsewhere. I would have given more stars except it seemed to take a long time to arrive.

Eminently Satisfying
I haven't A/B'd this set for sound quality against prior compilations devoted to ELP's work. I grabbed it up as the price was right and because -- as listening to it proved out -- as a cross-section of material from the different phases of their history, it is eminently satisfying, highlighting most of the best of their best (though if there were room, I would have included the complete Emerson Piano Concerto, not just the first movement). Indeed, listening to the first disc -- which is devoted to the contents of the group's first two albums -- on a brisk fall day in 2016, it brought me flashbacks to my first semester of college in 1973, when I immersed myself in the trio's work (and that of King Crimson and the Moody Blues) between classes in the new world of higher education. The third disc, covering their later work and reunion projects, was full of delightful surprises as well. The annotation is thorough, and the sound, taken on its own terms (not in contrast to prior collections) is superb.
