Good air flow and still private
Being a perfectionist, I cut a specific hole for each side of the vent. You probably don't have to (and on a solid door you can't) since the flange lip is wide enough to bridge the gap if cut carefully (one side has a smaller perimeter than the other as the one piece fits inside the other.) The other comments about the terrible screws supplied have a simple explanation. The head on the screws is the European Phillips head, not the #2 we're used to in the States. If you're careful, you can make a #2 work (or even a small flathead,) but for me, 68 cents later I had two replacement screws in stainless from Ace hardware. No big deal. As with all plastic items, ensure the fit is flush before torquing the screws down and only enough to seat the vent in the door. A swiffer type brush cleans the vent quite nicely. After I installed it, my family thought I had bought a whole new door

Cheaper than buying a louvered door
Watched a video online on how to install it in a hollow core door. I needed to have some ventilation on the door for my sump pump area so instead of buying a whole new louvered door, this was the more cost effective solution. There’s no Instructions and no template but I made one out of thin cardboard so I could see where I needed to install it on the door for clearance from the panel designs. I then traced it, and then placed the “outer”piece of the two pieces over the trace marks to trace it again and make sure it would be a good cut. I made sure the screw side was on the inside of the door because who wants to look at silver screws on a white vent? I taped all around the outside of the tracing with painters tape and predrilled four corner holes for the jigsaw and went to work. The tape serves three purposes, your wood/painted finish won’t split, it’s a good guide for the jigsaw, and the jigsaw skid won’t scratch up your door. As previous reviews have stated, the screws suck. Easy to strip if you don’t go slow and the screws are thin so the phillips head is smaller, so less grip when your screwdriver is trying to do it’s job. That was the hardest part, not stripping the screws. Overall it’s a decent product. It’s plastic, so it’s not going to look awesome. If you’re going to look at both sides of the door, I would tape the other side as you’re drilling/sawing a painted hollow core door because it will split a little, but it should be covered by the border of the piece. Also if you don’t want to look at silver screws, put some white paint on the screw heads or buy some decent white screws that will fit this because the ones that come with it suck.

Pay attention to install
Its not the product's fault, it's mine. I wanted a vent at the bottom of our bathroom door since our 17 year old takes 45 minute super hot showers. The overhead vent fan couldn't keep up because the bathroom didn't get enough airflow. This was relatively easy to install, i'm not a woodworking pro. I took the door off and put in the garage. I traced the outline, started cutting. For those non-pros: use a saw that goes all the way through the door. When I got finished with my jigsaw, I realized it didn't make it through the other side, so I had to do a lot of work lining up and cutting from the other side. Oops. It still turned out great and works fine! Lets just enough air into the bathroom that our son doesn't create a water park.

best available
Best available in a sea of plastic products. Cutting the hole properly on each side of the door is not an easy project. Overpriced for what you get especially with no template at all provided and that's half the battle. says updated but white headed screws are still silver and do not match.Be careful not to over time.bottom line: overpriced, no template, plastic flexes and it's not brittle like some.

Perfect size**Does the job!
The media could not be loaded. I really like how this looks. I wish I had done it years ago. It helps to add light to the dark hallway now, too. Very easy to install, according to my 21-year old son.It helped with all of the dampness and steam that the brand new exhaust fan couldn't handle. And so inexpensive compared to other ones. It's made in the Ukraine, so I'm glad that the Ukraine us able to export to provide low cost items to Americans.

Well made and study. Looks good.
Installation was easy. Because of design this unit seals opening to door interior ( limiting insects taking up residence there) and provides some structural support to door unlike alot of other option out there.Be warned, There are no instruction tips or advice for installation in box. So be advised that: 1, cut outs for each piece are different sizes as one piece fits into the other when installed. 2, hollow doors have cardboard or foam for structural support. Only cut out what is needed for install. 3, measure for center of door and start your bottom cut at least 2 inches ( my cuts were 2.5 ) from bottom edge of door. 4, flange is small so little room for cutting errors. You can see that one of my installations my cut was two big for one of the covers so i trimmed to give a recessed look.

does what its supposed to
We put this in the door to my husband's hobby room which is one of our bedrooms. The room was very stuffy, .especially during the hot summer. He needed to keep the cats out of his projects so couldn't just leave the door open. This door vent was easy to install and now when the AC runs, that room is cool and air movement is more balanced.

Grossly overpriced
I bought three. One of them broke when I dropped it on the floor. It's made of hard plastic. I think it's just grossly overpriced for the quality
