The best coffee I have personally ever tasted.

As a coffee addict, it is very customary for me to constantly be on the look out for that just perfect blend, which I prefer very dark and bitter of, and so far Davidoff's Espresso 59 was the only one that I'd found as close to perfect as I could, but it being ridiculously pricey makes it entirely impossible for me, as a student who drinks 3 huge cups of black coffee each day, to buy it for Rs. 500 per 100 grams. And so, though I might taste a lot of coffees, I do in the end return to Bru instant and the occasional very acidic local South Indian blend that just tastes terrible as a black coffee. This brand was very new to me, and actually recommended by my father, who is not a coffee drinker, and so I wasn't very keen on getting an indie brand coffee I'd never heard anything of ever, but just because he mentioned it to me, I just got the darkest blend I could find. And boy am I worshiping my dad right now, because holy hell. This is literally the best blend I have ever made at home, and my moka pot has perhaps never been blessed to make such an amazing coffee ever either. This coffee is everything it promises to be, it is dark, oaky and bitter-sweet and I am wholly and entirely in love with it. The grind size is perfect for my pot, and and I've brewed it with cold water in the water chamber, which means it was heated for about a minute and a half before the extract pushed out, and even still, the coffee was not that terrible burnt bitter that moka pots are infamous for. If this coffee tastes half as good a month later (which is when I reckon I'd finish 250 gms by myself), as it does today, ie. 3 days after it was ground, then I'm subscribing to this baby for life.Yes, it is just that good.EDIT: So, I have had the Vienna Roast ordered about 3 times, and so far the quality was not compromised, so I'm definitely impressed with the consistency. And I have tried a few more brewing methods, just to find what tastes best for this particular blend. If you're using a moka pot, then I would recommend boiling the water first and filling the chamber of the pot with boiling water rather than cold water because trust me, the taste comes through. With the cold water, it takes about a minute and a half for it to boil in the chamber, and in that period the coffee will begin cooking, so the extract is a little more bitter than ideal, and loses its oaky flavor. All of this is retained if you just change the water with boiling water, and so the decoction begins to come out within 10 seconds, and since the coffee is already a dark roast, the extraction is not overdone.Another thing to remember is that it's a dark roasted coffee. Which means it loses its flavor and aroma that quickly as it decarbonates. Anything longer than 3 weeks and the coffee is not half as good and aromatic as that first week. But then again, I bought it pre-ground, so I'm sure that has something to do with the shelf life as well. But since it does last me about 20 days per packet, I'm not complaining. In the past 4 months I have tried other Indian specialty coffees (KC Roasters ultra dark roast), and Blue Tokai's other blends- KALLEDEVERAPURA PULP SUN DRIED, and the Cold Brew Blend- Medium dark roast, and still the Vienna Roast remains my favourite of all.

Even better than Nespresso

I used to be an avid Nespresso drinker back in Europe and was worried when I move to India, which coffee would atleast give me that espresso taste and feeling. Did a lot of research on Amazon, and shortlisted this one to try out. It amazed me. It is even better than many Nespresso flavours. It has the perfect taste, is full bodied and has the rich aroma of an espresso when you make it in the Moka Pot. The brew is really rich and the Moka pot (bialetti brikka) does full justice to it. Yes it is expensive but worth it. You can savour it for special ocassions if budget is an issue. Be forewarned to have this coffee atleast 8hrs before sleep, else you'll have a tough time sleeping. It jumpstarts you till atleast 4pm in evening if you have it around 9am. As a replacement , I found the Lavazza cremo gusto to be fine as well considering the price point.

Dark aromatic and produces rich and diverse flavours

Loved the quality and freshness of the coffee beans, this one is truly for people who really enjoy the coffee for its taste rather than just caffeine.. it’s a nice dark roast for that excellent strong coffee.. I highly recommend it!!!

Good Coffee but something wrong with the pods

The coffee tasted great but for some reason the rate of coffee discharge is very low and one needs to wait noticeably longer for the machine to complete extraction. Not sure if this will impact the machine in the long run.I do not have a similar issue with pods by other brands. Maybe this needs to be looked into.

Perfect for Americano (in its initial days) Excellent for Cold brews and Iced Americano

The media could not be loaded. I haven't tried a lot of coffees and cannot use those taste-related adjectives in my review, but I will try to convey what I felt about this coffee.I bought the Vienna roast (dark roast), French-press grind. This coffee is really amazing. All the taste notes written on the packaging are felt in the first few sips. Its oaky, bitter-sweet, has a hint of cocoa and the roast is perfect for people who are into bitter coffees. It is not very bitter, but bitter-sweet, so people trying coffee for their fist time do not have to worry. It almost has no citrus or acidic tone to it, which I enjoy in medium roast, which makes it perfect as a dark roast coffee. The first sip from this coffee was heavenly. My tongue was really surprised, because it was not at all acidic. All I could taste was bittersweet dark roasted coffee with a hint of chocolatey flavour and experience its smoothness. To conclude, it is highly recommended for people who enjoy their coffee black and hate acidity in their coffee. People who really like the caramel taste and acid in their coffee might not enjoy this coffee. Otherwise, everyone will like this coffee.I will edit my review after I get to make a cold brew, because I really think a cold brew from this coffee is going to be really amazing.Edit 1 <09/04/2021> :-)I usually don't write reviews. Actually I do incase a product is really bad. But I cannot stop myself from writing a review for this coffee. It has been 25 days since I ordered the coffee. I am a casual drinker, so only half of my coffee is over. 25 days means the coffee has lost its strong aroma. Its obvious! Hot drinks with less aroma is not for me. They do taste good, but the cold ones are way better. So, as I said, I tried to make cold brew and I am left mind-blown again this time. Since cold brews are all about less acidity and high refreshment, the cold brew made by this coffee is really amazing. If you still want that acid, try to make your usual hot americano and then add ice later. Trust me, it tastes heavenly. The cold brew also tastes so amazing. I don't think I will change or try new coffees for a while now. Blue Tokai Vienna Roast is my ultimate coffee right now.To conclude, make hot drinks from this grind during the initial days of the coffee. Once it exceeds 20 days, switch to cold brews and iced Americano.Next time, I will try making some iced lattes and experiment with a carbonated coffee of my own. Till then, Enjoy being caffeinated! ;)
