Works very well
I felt some matted fur on one of my "don't brush me" long hair cats, read some reviews, and picked this one.It took the mats out of her without her even knowing what I was doing. It worked well on the knotted mats not on the flat mats, if that makes sense.Well made tool and works well.

It works!
My long-hair dog had to wear a cone for a while and it created a ton of mats on her head and neck. I was desperately trying to get them out but had no luck - till I found this little gadget! It really works - the blade is one-sided so I have to use my right hand, but it is small and flexible so I could get to my dog's ears and other areas. Just be patient while using this brush and tackle a small area at a time. The mats will come out after a while. Don't yank the brush or pull very hard - otherwise, it'll hurt the dog. Very happy with my purchase!

It's a long, curly haired cat's worse nightmare.
I got this for my young male cat JJ. He's a long haired Tuxedo cat. I got it based on the reviews. JJ is 14 months old. Doesn't like to lick his fur much. And he hates being brushed. So he managed to aquire some clumps around his nether regions. No worries. He's neutered. This thing wasn't soft at all. Unless you consider cold metal objects to be soft. Trying to gently brush this through his fur was most interesting. The minute it got to the clumps of hair, it would get stuck. Trying to unstick it was horrific at best. Lots of growling and digging into my arms with his finger knives. Thankfully he's not a biter. Yet. I've managed to reduce the size of the clumps using scissors. The clumps are about the size of a piece of chewed up bubble gum. But doesn't contain any gum. My other 2 older cats don't mind being brushed and I've used this on them. They don't have clumping issues. They're indifferent as they have observed it in use on JJ. I'm pretty certain that they've been making fun of him after each session. In conclusion, if your cat's fur is matted this probably won't fix it. But, it's good for preventing clumping. So, it doesn't totally suck.

Best tool in my grooming kit
I have many tools for combing my five cats, but I have one cat that has fur that seems to almost grow in tangled. I've brushed her for a couple of hours every night since she arrived as a stray five years ago, but she would still form mats in certain areas - on her stomach, her hind quarters and behind her front legs. This tool has made all the difference in removing mats she had and in keeping them from forming.I comb her gently with the tool because the tines are quite pointed. I hold the base of the most tangled fur between the fingers of my left hand while combing the tangle with this tool in my right hand. The tangles come out easily. I use this method because I don't want to tug on her fur. Her fur looks so much healthier and shinier since I began using this tool. It's great!

Good product
This rake/comb pulls more fur out of my CKC puppies than I thought they even had. We use it mostly for their ears and tales(when they let us touch their tails). The amount of fur that comes out on the comb simply amazes me! They look so fluffy and smooth. But don’t love the time I spend brushing them however they do stay for me to do it.I like the product (not sure my pups would agree)!!!

Great for Pyrenees
Helped me get very stubborn mats out behind my Pyrenees ears. It takes a little bit of work, and a few pulls, but he was happy to get the mats out!I found cutting away at the top of the mat can help before going right at the base of it.This will really help keep the small mats from becoming bigger ones if I keep up with routine maintenance more often.

Do not buy.
Have a cat with very fine fur. He tangles quite easily. Normally we have to cut them out so I thought I would give this brush a try. Was totally useless. Would not go through the knots.
