This thing is great
I set up the bars that if I placed the part before or after the line (see pictures) would determine which way i'm cutting. In that, which way I measured. Facing it, if i measure from the left I wanted to have them on the left side of the line so it would be accurate, and if I measured from right, right side of line. This was due to depending on the cuts I had to make, sometimes the greatest amount of plywood left would be on 1 side or the other, but my saw always runs from the handle. It's how I set it up. The thickness of the pointer on the plastic arms is right around the thickness of my blade. It might be off 1/16 from the exact size of the blade, but not enough to make a difference when cutting plywood for cabinets IMO.I am finishing my basement that includes cabinets for a kitchenette. See picture of installed bases pre doors/countertop. These were all cut with this tool on 3/4 plywood. I used an online website to get cuts so i could purchase the least amount of plywood. Used this tool to make all the cuts. The reason for the lines is to double check my measurments. I have a tendacy to measure 3.5" at the 2.5 (opposite side of the 3) without realizing. So I'll use my T square 48" long and make the cut line and just verify that i'm not F'ing up. I also wanted to make sure the cuts were right on the line. Besides some wobble here or there when I wasn't holding it steady against the track, you could just see a sliver of line left. Perfect for how I measure/mark. I think the cabinets look good and this tool was perfect for me and not too expensive.

What a non-woodworker should know.
Greetings fellow shoppers…… I thought I’d put in my 2 cents worth.First let me say Kreg is good stuff. Now the bad news…. This deceptively simple device is a bit tricky to get right and in the end is bested by cheaper devices. The track has to be pre-calibrated for each new tool you use it with and just because you did the calibration does not mean your cut will be straight. That’s the part Kreg doesn’t tell you. So every time you use it with a router, a jig saw, or circular saw the calibration process has to be repeated and believe me when I tell you you don’t want to be lazy with this step. In my work I need to switch tools often so this is a HUGE waste of my time!!I’m not a professional woodworker so I thought this device would simplify my job….. it didn’t. I’m a little slow on the uptake so the 1st calibration process took me an hour and a half!! Why? Because there are some things they dont explain in the how to videos on you tube or in the paper instructions that come with the product.Go to Home Depot and find the right angle tools, rafter triangles etc and for half of what Kreg charges for this device you can buy a straight cut guide that will be ready to use in minutes. Which is great because if your job is anything like mine you don’t have all the cuts for one device predetermined so you need to use more power tools. The straight guide at Home Depot is a simple straight piece of metal with two c-clamps (clearly too small for everything but c-clamps are affordable) and it works!! No convoluted calibration process. What would make this Kreg product make sense would be to include extra parts so you could set up three different tools with three separate guides and stop farting around with constant recalibration and get back to your project.Take it from me (someone with a tendency to overthink things), a straight edge and a pair of c-clamps is simple to use, faster, and cheaper. Kreg didn’t fix a problem with their device. They started with best intentions and finished by creating a whole new set of problems.Oh two more things:1) the Kreg guide bases the calibration in part on the idea that your lumber is perfectly square. If your lumber is not square the Line you cut won’t be either. To be sure your guide is straight you should still measure the distance from the wood edge to the fence to make sure they match.2) if you need to work on smaller pieces Kreg thinks you want to screw around with removing sections of the guide that are held together with tiny set screws that use a tiny Allen wrench to hold the whole mess together, & that they’ve solved a problem…. NOPE they created another one! Every time your material changes size you get to disassemble and reassemble the guide! Add to that, if you need a guide on many differently measured pieces, and/or cut with more than one tool….. well you can probably guess what comes next…. More wasted set up time!! The Home Depot straight edge cut guide doesn’t care what size your material is or what tool you use.In short this is an over engineered tool that creates more problems than it solves. Does it work? Yes! Is it well made…. Ok sure…..but does it really solve a problem no simpler tool can rectify…..NO FREAKIN’ WAY!!Save the money I didn’t and buy a metal straight edge so Kreg gets the hint! (And you can finish your project without all the hassle!!)Happy shopping fellow shopper!!

Pretty awesome
It makes your cuts straight and true. Takes a few minutes to put it together as it comes in 4 sections. The set screws and the provided Allen wrench are a bit of a miss mach so be careful not to strip them out. It is super light but kind of a pain to disassemble to make smaller so I would recommend just storing it as the full set. The saw blade markers are awesome make it fast to set the correct line, but you have to set them left handed or right handed. They could have made it ambidextrous which would have made this thing basically flawless. It's a fraction of the cost of their tracksaw kit and if you're somewhat handy this will get you 90% there.

A reasonably ok substitute for a real tracksaw
It's good enough in lieu of a genuine tracksaw. I have a machinists straight edge and the sections of the one that I received have subtle bowing or variation. This guide is not suitable for making a true glue edge. This is better than following a chalk line freestyle. This is ok for making straight cuts that are not going to be glued. After using my circular saw and this guide, a pass with a flush trim bit in a router, using the edge of a sheet of MDF as a guide, was necessary to get a perfect glue edge.

Price and flexibility
As an owner of many kreg tools this is a game changer once setup you can quickly make rip cuts accurately and quickly I also like the flexibility and the ease of changing the rip cut lengths price was perfect definitely a game changer for the wood worker diy or pro

5 star goes to Kreg Customer Service
I have an upcoming project and could not justify buying a track saw. Product arrived with parts that were not fully manufactured. Missing owners manual and was frustrated as soon as I opened the box. Downloaded the manual from Kreg and emailed Kreg Customer service. Responded extremely fast and I had all of the replacement parts in my hands in two days. Even though there were errors with the product initially they were able to gain must trust in the end.

Mostly straight
Probably the best multi-section 8ft straight edge available but I'm not happy with the tolerances. Lesson learned -> if you're looking for an 8ft STRAIGHT edge, make your own or buy a ONE piece 8Ft straight edge.
