Used to connect a dvd player with only a scart socket. It works well, but I had to also connect the USB cable into the telly to provide power. Problem I had was that the USB-micro plug at the hdmi end is at right angles to the hdmi plug, so it would not fit into the hdmi socket array with the others. (the hdmi sockets on the telly are quite close together) I solved the problem by buying a 12cm flexible extension male/female hdmi cable.

I bought this product in September after I’d purchased a new TV. My old TV was connected to my DVD player by scart connections and worked fine. My new TV didn’t have a scart port. Having set up the DVD player using this product (scart to HDMI) I checked the connection and played the opening credits of a DVD - both sound and picture seemed OK. I hadn’t used the DVD again until recently when I tried to watch a new box set I received for Christmas. The picture quality on the DVD was appalling. Very dark and the colour was fuzzy. Changing the TV’s brightness and contrast controls did little to improve the situation. I tried other DVDs with the same result, concluding that the problem lay with the connecting cable. My solution was to buy a new Sony DVD player and HDMI cable - both discounted at Amazon (January 2024). After setting these up, I’ve got a perfect picture on all my DVDs. Too late to return the scart - HDMI cable but my advice is: don’t buy it but invest in any cheap DVD player with HDMI - HDMI connections. (PS. The discount on the DVD player and HDMI cable compensated for the cost of the defective product!)

Excellent quality, easy to install and great value for money

3 stars as I have no idea if this works or not. Bought to connect a Nintendo Wii to a new TV without RCA input. I presumed, wrongly as it turns out, that as this was an RCA to HDMI converter I could plug the RCA cables into the converter and then plug into the HDMI input on the TV . However the cable supplied is a USB so even if this does convert to HDMI I have no way of knowing if it works. It could be that I have misunderstood something but the the instructions are of no help at all and I'm going to but a similar, albeit more expensive, product which definitely comes with an HDMI cable.
