Must have appliance for me!
Handy size since it’s only my wife and I. This cooker delivers consistent results when used as directed. There is a trick to using a rice maker, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS to start and you won’t be disappointed. It’s so much more reliable than cooking rice on a stove, ESPECIALLY if you are a busy cook like me. The automation lets you focus on your entree instead of the rice.Feel free to experiment once you understand the rice to water ratio. If you ignore everything they tell you in the manual, don’t blame the appliance when you produce lousy rice.Keep in mind that the cup that comes with the device is not an American standard “cup” for dry measure, it’s actually less. If you use a standard “cup” you will be adding too much rice and won’t be able to rely on the water markings in the cooking pot. Again, once you understand the principles, experiment away!Once the rice is “cooked” I don’t always leave on the “warm” setting. I find that it often scorches the bottom layer of rice, leaving it hard and unusable.I time everything else so that once the rice is cooked, I shut off the device and remove the lid for several minutes to allow any excess water to evaporate and then serve shortly after. If you’re wondering if you really need or want one, just buy it, you won’t regret it.

Should've got this long time ago
I've been using fancier programmable rice cooker before, everything still functioned well except for the non-stick inner pot start to peel off. Replacement inner pot is expensive, and throwing away the entire cooker felt wasteful. I decide to give this Aroma stainless steel rice cooker a try, needless to say the health benefits over non-stick coating. Before using it for the first time it already exceeded my expectation because it felt a lot heavier than expected. This is due to the inner pot being thick and heavy. Compared to regular rice cooker, to me, this cooker's result is more similar to cast iron stove top cooked rice which produces lovely traditional taste. I used regular short grace rice. Like many other reviewers said, need to soak rice for 10 - 15 minutes before cooking for best result. After scooping out the rice, the bottom has a very thin layer sticked, way less than I originally thought. The pot can be easily cleaned after 10 minutes of soaking. Also, I don't use the keep warm for too long as that could dry out the rice. It's simple on/off operation makes it great fit for controlling by smart plug. For example, just push down start and tell Alexa to turn on rice cooker at 6:30 AM.

Just Bought 2nd one!
This Aroma rice cooker works perfectly! Arrived today. Works as well as a larger one I had years ago. I just ordered a second one.People who have problems with "sputtering" and sticking need to make sure they use the rice measure cup included with the unit and THEN rinse the rice. Let excess water go.THEN put water in the unit to the appropriate line embossed in the vessel. White rice water line on left. Brown rice water line on right.DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT use US measuring cup to measure the water. The included cup is NOT equivalent to 1 US cup.Once rice cooker has clicked to warm, DO NOT remove lid for 10 minutes. THEN, use included spoon to fluff rice and loosen rice stuck on bottom. It will easily come up.If you want the rice to remain on warm longer than 20 minutes, without the rice sticking to the bottom, the instruction booklet tells you to have added extra water, using the INCLUDED RICE MEASURE at the startBUT, realize that that really IS for people who do not intend to open and eat the rice after the initial 10 minute rest period. If you add the extra water and open the rice pot before it evaporates out, you will have wet rice.Read all directions including fine print and use the right measurements and you will love the pot.

Good, but the keep warm setting dries a small amount of rice too much
The warm function may be a bit higher than it should be for a small amount of rice, but added a few teaspoons of water about 5 minutes after it switches to warm and this eliminates the problem. Haven't tried a larger amount of rice.

Simple, Compact, and Effective – A Pleasant Surprise!
I bought the Aroma Housewares Select Stainless Rice Cooker & Warmer to replace my beloved rice cooker of 12 years, which is sadly no longer made. After an extensive search, I knew I wanted something with a stainless steel pot (no chemical coatings), and I was willing to spend decent money if it meant finding a solid replacement. I actually bought a different rice cooker first, but it turned out to be way too bulky.I ended up purchasing this one just to have something small for my son, who cooks rice regularly. But to my surprise, this little rice cooker completely exceeded my expectations! It’s compact, easy to use, cooks rice quickly, and the stainless steel pot is exactly what I was looking for. It may be simple, but it does the job beautifully, and now I don’t feel the need to upgrade. If you're on the fence, I highly recommend giving it a try!

Doesn’t cook well and hard to clean
I really wanted to like this rice cooker. I loved the idea of a pot you could put in the dishwasher and a simple on/warm button. But almost every time I cook rice in it, it requires two hits to cook it all the way through. We’ve tried adding more or less water and it cannot get it to cook rice appropriately. Usually ends up with either mushy rice or underdone and I feel like we never get the nice, fluffy rice I got out of rice cookers in the past. Also, the stainless steel sounds nice, but in reality it just means the rice sticks to the bottom of the pan every time (I’ve tried adding oil, etc) and you have to soak it in soapy water in the sink even if you are gonna stick it in the dishwasher.Overall poor product, I wish I hadn’t missed my return window. Do not recommend.

Good SS bowl rice cooker
Great rice cooker. I haven't had the rice sticking problem others have had.Only complaints: water gets stuck under the lid's handle when it's run through the dishwasher. Wash the bowl and lid before using it the first time. And wipe down all of the surfaces, there was an acrid smell the first time I used it, am guessing manufacturing residue of some sort burning off.
