JBL Charge 4 - Waterproof Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Black

A solid easy pairing speaker. It isn’t necessary to use the app. There is no equalizer function in the app for the charge 4 anyway.Edit 1: it is easy pairing - but after pairing when i walked 15 feet away all connection would drop. No music. Would have to re- pair.The Amazon music app has an equalizer function built in that allows you to configure custom levels for each song, even during a song. And the charge 4 is perfectly responsive to the Amazon music app equalizer. So no need for the jbl presets to limit your music style.I bought the 4 because it has the 3.5 aux input. Charge 5 does not. The aux input is a more steady, stable and stronger signal than any Bluetooth. And the sound quality is superior. In addition the battery will last longer.This charge 4 uses an older version of Bluetooth. That is not an issue because all 5 range bluetooth is backwards compatible to 4. I’ve had no problem with Android or ios or kindle fire connections.Edit 2. Distance is an issue if you pair and walk awayI’m happy listening to everything on this. Most of my music is piano, orchestral and folk. I alter the preset in the Amazon music app or my device equalizer. This is not just a boom box. But it can definitely boom a deep enough bass on the factory presets.Fast pairing on all devices, great loudness, good sounds that i can alter with my own equalizer. Works for classical or jazz, too. Including symphonies. Not hi fidelity or stereo but very pleasant. Good price.Connects to other jbl connect devices. Has 3.5 aux.I liked it so much i bought it a carrying case.Edit 3: i returned the Jbl charge 4. Now i have an empty jbl charge 4 case which i will use as an ugly purse.

We bought this speaker after our 10 year old JBL finally died. This one is bigger and the sound is great and we can't believe the quality of the sound for the money! And it holds the charge forever!! Very pleased and hope this one will last 10 years. I'm betting it will!

It's great, nice and loud and works the way it should. I had it for about a month (outside the t entire time) and I noticed the bass sounding like it rattled, was very upset. I noticed there's a plastic cover on one of the ends. Took it off, sounded great again. Great little outside speaker for patio / backyard use. Very loud for it's size.

I bought the JBL Charge 3 a few years ago and lost it on a camping trip last year. I love it, so I bought the Charge 4. It is portable for both the house and travel. The sound quality is great, and the battery life lasts a couple of days on one charge. It's easy to use and has simple functions.

It holds a charge forever and the sound quality is excellent. I take it to the beach or just use it around the house—it’s perfect for both. Super reliable and easy to use!

This is a pretty good speaker.The sound quality is good for the price point.The size is compact.It is easy to connect to a device.My only gripe is that it can not be turned on or off remotely. I have a different portable speaker with that feature and I miss it with this one.

I own a $500 Sony 1070 home receiver with $800 Polk Lsim703 speakers so I am very picky about my stereo. I tried several made-in-China portable speakers but they were lacking in depth and quality and I had to return them. I happened to be in Target store and they had a Charge 5 speaker as a demo and I liked the sound. This Charge 4 is one generation behind but reviews indicated the sound quality was equivalent so I decided on the Charge 4. Very happy with the sound quality and the Bluetooth pairing was troublefree with my Samsung S20FE phone. I connected my MP3 player via mini aux connection and everything works well. Now for the negatives: (1) There is no handle so I had to buy a case. (2) manual is poor so you have to figure out the controls by yourself. (3) The controls are difficult to see since there is no contrast and the color is the same as the speakers. (4) only 30 watts so it is not a party speaker and you need a larger 100 watts and more expensive speaker for super loud volumes. Despite these minor negatives, I gave it 5 stars given the excellent sound quality and the relatively low price. Both the speakers and amp are definitely a cut above the no name speakers.
